What is Self Worth?

What is self worth? It’s a question that, at least for me, my aanswer has changed over time. I currently define my worth as a human, thus I am worthy. If I think back more than ten years ago, I may have drank the Kool-aid and tied up my worth in my work and outcomes with patients. Thank goodness time and wisdom (or at least I think) has changed that and my views on many things in life.

How do you define your self worth? Is it limited to just your career, accolades, or titles?

A physician is a human as well. By breathing, you are worthy.

In this most recent episode of The Worthy Physician I sat down with the very awesome Jilian Rigert. I appreciated this conversation. Not only was Jilian very transparent, she was authentic. She shared her journey, one that nearly took her life! Instead of collecting material things, she has purged and gotten rid of them. It seems that simplifying life may be a wise trend.

What are your core values?

How do you define your worth?

How do you define success? Does your interpretation of success differ from society? If so, do you feel bad about that? [Secret, you shouldn’t!]

You are more than a title, physician…you are human! You are worthy just based on that!
